	Perhaps the most visible difference between engineering firms can be observed in the laboratory. What type of equipment is utilized? Is it properly calibrated? Are there full-time certified laboratory managers to ensure that proper testing procedures are followed? These are questions that should be asked of your consultant. A well-equipped, professional laboratory is essential in performing quality soils engineering. Unfortunately, many clients would be disappointed to observe the facilities at many consulting firms.

	All Giles offices have in-house soil mechanics and construction laboratories that are managed by qualified personnel. Each laboratory participates in the AMRL Soil Proficiency Program which compares our test results to many other firms in North America to assure that our results are accurate. Our Wisconsin laboratories are AASHTO accredited in soil, concrete and aggregates and approved by the Wisconsin Department of Transportation for highway construction testing.
