Terry L. Giles founded Giles Engineering Associates in 1976. A graduate of Civil Engineering from University of Wisconsin – Platteville, Giles left Wisconsin in the late 1960s to pursue a career on the East Coast. He worked for Schnabel Engineering in Bethesda, Maryland while attending George Washington University, where he received his Masters Degree. He also attended Catholic University in Maryland, where he took courses towards his PhD. In the early 70s, Giles honed his engineering experience in Illinois and upstate New York before returning to Milwaukee, Wisconsin in 1976 to found his company.

Pat Reuteman has been an integral part of the Giles team since 1978. Mr. Reuteman received a B.S. in Geography, University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, 1975. He is the Vice President and Manager of the Drilling division for both geotechnical and environmental subsurface explorations. He has more than 37 years of experience and is responsible for the coordination of geotechnical and environmental subsurface explorations throughout most of the United States and Canada. Mr. Reuteman is also responsible for the management and supervision of the drilling department and equipment maintenance departments.
Throughout his career, he earned the following professional registrations and certifications: certified in Radiation and Use of Nuclear Gauges; 40-Hour Workshop for Superfund and RCRA Remediation Site Personnel; certified Soil Tester (State of Wisconsin); certified Engineering Technician (NSPE); certified Water Well Driller in Iowa, North Carolina and Indiana. Kevin Bugel P.G., C.P.G., Environmental Division Manager – Central Region

Mr. Bugel started with Giles engineering as a project manager in 2004, bringing 13 years of experience as an environmental consultant. Mr. Bugel holds a Bachelor in Science in Geology, University of Wisconsin – Oshkosh (1987), and a Masters Science in Geosciences from Texas Tech University (1991). He is a registered Professional Geologist in Wisconsin and a Certified Professional Geologist (AIPG).
Mr. Bugel offers more than 25 years of professional experience in the fields of geology, hydrogeology and due diligence, and possesses a comprehensive background in managing environmental investigation and remediation projects. As the Environmental Division Manager (2007 to present), he has directed site investigation and remediation projects and provided technical support for numerous properties with petroleum hydrocarbon, chlorinated solvent, polychlorinated biphenyl (PCB), and Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA) metals soil and groundwater impact. Mr. Bugel has also served as a project manager for health risk and natural attenuation assessments and for sites under active remediation. In addition, his experience includes due diligence Phase I and II Environmental Site Assessments (ESAs) for urban properties undergoing real estate transfer and development for municipal clients, real estate developers, and private parties.
Mr. Bugel has extensive consulting experience associated with project team leadership and mentorship, technical support, project management, project scoping, budgeting, scheduling, contract development and review, and client and regulatory agency communication. He has authored and contributed to several federal and state-level regulatory reports. He has experience in federal and state regulatory requirements and is well-versed in guidelines set forth by state environmental regulatory agencies.

David M. Cornale P.E., Senior Geotechnical Consultant

David Cornale received a B.S. in Biological Sciences and a B.S. in Civil Engineering, both from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. Additionally, he is a Registered Professional Engineer in the State of Wisconsin.
Mr. Cornale has more than 20 years of experience in multiple areas of geotechnical engineering project work. His experience includes directing and coordinating geotechnical engineering investigations, conducting in-situ field testing and site characterizations, performing foundation and other geotechnical analyses and preparation of geotechnical engineering reports.

Steve received his Bachelor of Civil Engineering from the University of Minnesota in 1995, and began working for Giles in 1996. He spent one year as a field engineer in 1996 before accepting a Project Engineer position in early 1997. Steve was and still is a driving force in our Waukesha Materials Laboratory’s accreditations with AASHTO and WisDOT. He was promoted to the Materials Testing Division management staff in 2004, and was raised to Division Manager in early 2014. He holds or has held numerous technical certifications from ACI, NICET, and WisDOT. Steve is a member of ASCE, ASTM, and ACI. He has been a voting member for ASTM International Committee E36 (Accreditation and Conformity Assessment) since 1997. He currently sits on the Board of Directors for the Wisconsin Chapter of ACI, serving as the Membership chair.
Some of the larger projects on which he has worked include: Henry Maier Festival Park Grounds Additions/Renovations; Mayfair Mall Nordstrom’s, Parking Garage, and Mall Connector; Mitchell Park Domes Greenhouses; Alverno College Campus Expansion; MSOE Soccer Field and Parking Garage; and the foundations for the Northwestern Mutual Life downtown campus tower. Angela Anderson Manager – CMT Field Services

Angela has 12 years of professional experience, all gained as an employee of Giles Engineering. She is responsible for assisting in the supervision and management of the Construction Materials Testing (CMT) Division which includes an AASHTO Accredited laboratory and a staff of 10 to 25 field technicians.
Angela has 8 years of experience as a construction materials testing field engineer, which involves performing soil, concrete, asphalt and rebar inspection. Skills acquired throughout her career extend to utilizing sophisticated imaging radar, used for locating conduit, rebar and post-tension steel within previously constructed concrete and masonry structures; directing and scheduling activities of WisDOT certified technicians; and conducting Phase I Environmental Site Assessments (ESAs). Additionally, Angela also spent 4 years supervising subsurface explorations and preparing geotechnical reports, and has prepared more than 400 geotechnical reports for commercial, industrial, government and industrial projects throughout the United States.
Angela considers herself the “Jill-of-all-trades”, as she has worked out of every Giles office for more than 4 months (with the exception of Texas), and has been employed in the CMT, Environmental and Geotech Departments, even serving as the occasional driller assistant for regional offices. In consideration of all the hats Angela has worn over the years, she decided to take up juggling and riding a unicycle outside of work, to add one more.

Darryl Keating P.E., District Manager – Mid-Atlantic and Northeast Regions

Darryl Keating is a District Manager, overseeing operations from both the Manassas, Virginia and Linthicum (Baltimore), Maryland offices. Darryl is a licensed professional engineer (licensed in Virginia and Maryland), with 20 years of experience in geotechnical engineering, construction testing and inspections, quality control, and project management. Since joining Giles Engineering in March 2011, Darryl has been Branch Manager of the Baltimore office, opened the Manassas office, and is currently serving as the District Manager for both offices. Darryl holds a Bachelor of Engineering (civil engineering) from Memorial University of Newfoundland.
Darryl is very active in his local church, where he is the group leader with the Royal Rangers boys’ ministry. Darryl has been married to Debbie for 16 years, and has two children.

Rodolfo Lomas P.E., Branch Manager – Southwest Region

Rodolfo Lomas, P.E. is the Branch Manager and senior engineer at Giles’s office in Dallas, Texas. He is a graduate of The University of Texas at El Paso where he received a Bachelor’s Degree in civil engineering and a Master’s Degree in science. Mr. Lomas joined Giles in 2013, and is a licensed Professional Engineer in Texas and Oklahoma.
After graduation, Mr. Lomas started working at the Texas Department of Transportation where he gained experience with roadwork and infrastructure projects. After switching to the private sector, his work experience includes thousands of projects in the private and public sector working with engineers, architects, developers, municipalities and state agencies, among others. Currently Mr. Lomas operates in a dual role capacity of senior engineering consulting and managing the day-to-day operations of the office.

Project Manager John Maier has been with Giles for over 2 years. He received an M.S. in Civil Engineering, with a Geotechnical emphasis, from San Jose State University in California, and a B.S. in Civil Engineering from Metropolitan State University in Denver, Colorado. He is a Professional Engineer in the state of California.
Mr. Maier’s career includes 14 years of geotechnical engineering services from conception through completion including planning, budgeting, field reconnaissance, laboratory testing, design, reporting, plan review, construction materials testing and inspections, and site monitoring programs. These services have been performed on small and large complex projects with sensitive soil including multi-unit commercial structures, residential units, renewable energy, municipal, military, retaining structures, and landslide remediation. Mr. Maier’s experience also includes the mentoring of staff engineers and technicians to achieve goals, developing and testing of foundation systems, value engineering for site specific requirements, maintaining budget, and offering top notch services to clients and the community.

Steve Thuemling Corporate Manager-Phase I Services

Steve started working for Giles Engineering in 1985 as a field technician in the Environmental Consulting industry. Currently the Corporate Manager of Phase I Services, Steve has accumulated 30 years of experience conducting Environmental Site Assessments (ESAs), managing site investigations, developing site-specific work plans, and overseeing site remediation on commercial, industrial and residential properties. Through the scope of his career, Steve has cultivated his skills to thoroughly understand client objectives, develop project scope, schedules and budgets, as well as serving as a client/ regulator liaison. He combines his expertise to evaluate cost-effective investigation, remedial and closure solutions to a variety of environmental scenarios for industrial and commercial clients. Other “hats” Steve has worn throughout his career with Giles includes: staff scientist I & II, Project Manager, Assistant Environmental Division Manager and Corporate Manager – Phase I Services.
Steve holds an AAS in Computer Engineering from Milwaukee School of Engineering. His Professional Registrations and Certifications include: OSHA 40-Hour Health and Safety Waste Site Worker Training and Annual Refresher (29CFR1910.120(e)8); U.S. EPA AHERA Asbestos Building Inspector.
